Shirley Verrette is an American artist living between New York City and Istanbul.
Her ongoing gouache series titled "Threads", weaves elements of literature, art and world culture to create unique story-telling paintings with dynamic compositions. Beautiful and affordable, they range from small, 13" x 20" to large, 26" x 40". Diverse imagery, including works of Old and Contemporary Masters, Islamic and geometric pattern, ordinary and extraordinary people, and architecture from around the world, is woven seamlessly together in vibrant color. Realistically painted, the collaged imagery creates a surreal and dreamlike quality. Stories within stories invite you to find your own.
Shirley's work is exhibited in both Turkey and the U.S.
